The Delaware State Police have identified 28-year-old Donregus Holland of Hurlock, Maryland, as a second suspect involved in the April homicide of 18-year-old Corey Mumford in Laurel. Holland was taken into custody yesterday in Maryland.

On April 14, 2023, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the Laurel Police Department responded to a shooting near the 100 block of Sunset Drive in Wexford Village Apartments. When officers arrived, they located Corey Mumford suffering from multiple gunshot wounds behind one of the apartment buildings. The officers began CPR and attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived. Corey was then taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Due to the nature of the case, the Laurel Police Department requested that the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assume the investigation.

On April 21, 2023, suspect Jhalir Henry was arrested in Maryland for the murder of Corey Mumford.

Detectives developed Donregus Holland as a second suspect involved in Corey’s homicide. On May 18, 2023, members of the Maryland Marshals Task Force and the Maryland State Police executed a search warrant at a residence on the 100 block of Andrews Street in Hurlock, Maryland. Holland was located and arrested without incident. Holland is now incarcerated in Maryland and will be extradited to Delaware, where he will be charged with Murder First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, and Conspiracy First Degree.
